Job Title: Buyer/Planner
Location: Newport News, VA
Schedule: Monday through Friday (8-hour shifts)
Work Arrangement: Hybrid – In-office Tuesday through Thursday, remote Monday and Friday
Pay Rate: $15.00 – $18.00/hour (Overtime eligible after 40 hours)
Job Summary:
As a Buyer/Planner, you will be responsible for delivering service and inventory goals by ensuring the right inventory is in the right place at the right time. You will manage vendor relationships, inventory replenishment strategies, and purchase order lifecycles while collaborating across teams including Customer Groups, Distribution Centers, Demand Planners, and Sales.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and execute replenishment strategies aligned with business goals.
Manage inventory settings and adjust parameters to meet service and stock targets.
Process planned orders and manage purchase orders end-to-end (placement, adjustment, cancellations).
Identify and address issues impacting service or inventory using alerts and data analysis.
Conduct root cause analysis on service failures and implement corrective actions.
Collaborate cross-functionally with internal teams to align on replenishment strategies.
Serve as first point of contact for inquiries regarding service issues, escalating as needed.
Coordinate with Fulfillment teams to ensure optimal product flow through warehouses.
Monitor and rebalance inventory to optimize excess stock.
Expedite or cancel orders to meet customer service targets.
Utilize planning software to optimize truckload/container orders.
Regularly analyze and act on KPIs including instocks, fill rate, inventory days, and inefficiencies.
Qualifications:
1–2 years of administrative experience required.
Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Teams, Word, PowerPoint).
Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs) strongly preferred.
Experience in supply chain planning software is a plus.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail.
Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
Able to work independently and make data-driven decisions.
