DESCRIPTION
The Office for Students with Disabilities (OSD) at UC San Diego works with undergraduate, graduate, and professional school students with documented disabilities, reviewing documentation and, through an interactive process, determining reasonable accommodations. Disabilities can occur in the following areas: psychological, psychiatric, learning, attention, chronic health, physical, vision, hearing, and acquired brain injuries, and may occur at any time during a student’s college career.
The OSD also serves as a resource to UC San Diego faculty and staff who are providing accommodations to students in classrooms, labs and non-academic spaces across campus, and we have developed working relationships with other offices on campus to streamline services to students with disabilities.
The Assistant to the Office for Students with Disabilities provides administrative support to the Office of Students with Disabilities (OSD) and coordinates accommodations services including but not limited to the following: Peer note-taking and lecture capture; captioning and ASL interpreting services with outside vendors for enrolled students and campus departments who request assistance; and coordinates with the Assistant to the OSD Director the placement of access ambassadors in classrooms for students who are receiving remote access as an accommodation. Documents into the database management system all interactions and services provided. Serves as back-up to the Assistant to the Director and to the Coordinator of Support Services. Assists with special projects as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS
Experience providing administrative support.
Experience arranging and preparing for meetings of varying size and complexity, soliciting schedules, preparing materials, agendas, and attendance lists, securing space, reserving parking, coordinating catering, arranging for technical needs, setting up the meeting room, taking, editing, and distributing meeting notes or minutes, etc.
Proficient in entering data, maintaining local databases and database records, using spreadsheet software, creating reports, and conducting web searches. Ability to compile, interpret, and present data.
Demonstrated record management experience. Proven skill in establishing and maintaining accurate, organized records, files and filing system. Knowledge of university reporting requirements and records retention regulations.
Excellent communication skills by telephone and in person including tact, diplomacy, and flexibility. Experience interacting with a wide population with differing needs, particularly individuals with disabilities.
Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills, the ability to multi-task, and the demonstrated ability to work with changing deadlines and frequent interruptions without a loss of accuracy, focus or good humor.
Excellent written communication skills with demonstrated ability to effectively compose, edit, and proofread letters, memoranda, agendas, and summary reports with clear and concise expression, proper grammar, style, format, and punctuation.Ability to express verbally, or in writing, one’s position, plan of action, evaluation or interpretation in a professional, concise, and courteous manner.
Established analytical and problem-solving skills with ability to analyze situations, identify existing or potential problems, recommend solutions, determine and implement procedures to accomplish effective resolution.
Ability to handle confidential materials in accordance with established policy and maintain strict confidentiality.
Demonstrated skill and ability in both PC & Mac environments. Mastery of standard business software to include MS Office Suite. Ability to use internet search tools for information retrieval. Willingness and ability to update and expand computer knowledge, skills and abilities in order to respond to changing operational needs.
Proven ability to work independently and effectively with minimal supervision; exercise good judgement in decision making; accurately anticipate executive needs; take initiative; learn quickly; demonstrate flexibility; and maintain professional composure while working under pressure of frequent interruptions and changing priorities.
Willing and able to work as a team member in accomplishing goals of OSD, and provide prompt, efficient, accurate and courteous service.

Duties may require direct contact and/or supervision of children (defined as individuals under the age of 18); completion of the Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act (CANRA) form will be required.
Pay Transparency Act
Annual Full Pay Range: $40,700 – $85,295 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)
Hourly Equivalent: $19.49 – $40.85
Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
