Position Description

Advertised Job Summary
The Office of Access and Opportunity at the University of South Carolina is seeking a highly organized and proactive Administrative Assistant to provide essential support in a collaborative environment. In this role, you will be the first point of contact for visitors, ensuring they are warmly greeted and directed to the correct campus offices. Key responsibilities include managing office communications, maintaining records, processing invoices, handling accounts payable and receivable, and coordinating meetings and events, along with managing office supplies and assisting with scheduling for staff members.

Additionally, you will support special projects, develop program resources, and collaborate with other University offices, providing opportunities to train and supervise student assistants while contributing to office efficiency, making it an ideal position for someone with strong organizational and communication skills and a commitment to professional growth in a goal-oriented environment.

Job Related Minimum Required Education and Experience
Requires a bachelor’s degree in a job related field and no prior work experience, which may be substituted by an equivalent combination of job related certification, training, education, and/or experience.

Required Certification, Licensure/Other Credentials

Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree and 3+ years of related work experience.

Familiarity with USC systems (e.g., Banner, EAB Navigate360).

Knowledge of Access and Opportunity-focused programming and university operations.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, OneNote); Adobe Acrobat; and Canva for digital content creation and presentation.
Excellent verbal and written communication.
Strong organizational and time management skills with a demonstrated ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
Keen attention to detail and accuracy in clerical and financial tasks.
Ability to work independently, efficiently, and resourcefully.
Demonstrates capacity for critical thinking and problem-solving.

Manage the calendars for the Access and Opportunity staff, anticipating the team’s needs ahead of appointments and workshops to ensure smooth and efficient scheduling.
