The Chesterfield-Colonial Heights Department of Social Services is hiring an Administrative Supervisor who will be a leader in our organization and responsible for the Application Registration team under our Benefit Programs division.
What You Do and How You Do It:
The Administrative Supervisor will provide daily oversight to programs, particularly benefit programs in the application status. In this role, you’ll assist in planning, coordination, implementation and monitoring of strategies, policies and procedures to ensure utilization of skill and resources. Part of this role includes monitoring and evaluating attendance and work schedules for the Application Registration team to make sure that staff coverage is secured. You’ll review work compliance by conducting case monitoring reviews on each staff member of the team. As the Administrative Supervisor, you’ll be a part of our Benefit Leadership Team and be responsible for attending meetings, state readiness calls, and supervisor trainings. This role will prepare unit meeting material and conduct one-on-one supervision meetings with staff to discuss work, training, and development. Being the Administrative Supervisor for Application Registration, you hold a key role in developing staff and ensuring compliance with state policies and procedures. Perform other work as required.
Here’s What You Need:
High school diploma supplemented with post-secondary coursework in office or business administration, accounting, computer science, or related field; or an equivalent combination of training and experience
Comprehensive knowledge of agency, department or section administrative and program practices, policies and procedures
The Ideal Candidate Has:
Ability to recommend actions to improve procedures
Ability to review and proofread the work of others while also preparing and generating statistical narrative and confidential reports
Ability to assess circumstances and make administrative decisions that positively affect the team, staff, and the customer
Excellent organizational, time management, oral/written communication, interpersonal, public relations and supervisory skills
Exceptional ability to collaborate and achieve performance goals
Knowledge and ability to apply social work principles and Virginia policies in benefit programs
Computer competency, specifically in our commonly used VDSS automated systems, Microsoft Office Suite, and database applications
Increasingly responsible experience in administrative support work, including experience in a supervisory or lead position
Current valid driver’s license and good driving record required. Based on the Virginia DMV point system, record must not reflect a total of six or more demerit points within the twenty-four months preceding the anticipated hire date, or one major violation of six demerit points within the preceding thirty-six months. Out of state driving records must be obtained by applicant and presented at time of interview. Records must reflect at least three years of history and be dated within thirty days of interview date. Pre-employment drug testing, FBI criminal background check and education/degree verification required. A Chesterfield County application is also required and must be submitted online by the deadline.
This position is part of the Management Team for Emergency Shelter Operations during times of natural disaster, reporting to and leading a team during shelter duty as required.
