This is an on-site role based in India for a Google Workspace Administrator to join a fast-moving operations team supporting global clients and internal stakeholders. The role focuses on operational excellence, secure configuration, automation of administration, and strong collaboration with security and identity teams.

Role & Responsibilities

  • Manage and administer Google Workspace tenant(s) via the Admin Console—user lifecycle, groups, organizational units, and licensing, ensuring accurate entitlements and periodic access reviews.
  • Implement, maintain, and validate security controls: 2-Step Verification, MFA policies, contextual access controls, DLP rules, DKIM/SPF/DMARC configuration, phishing and spoofing protections, and security posture reviews.
  • Drive identity integrations and SSO implementations using SAML/OAuth with Active Directory/LDAP and Google Cloud Directory Sync (GCDS); troubleshoot federation and SSO incidents and maintain integration documentation.
  • Administer email and data retention using Google Vault; design and apply retention rules, manage holds, perform eDiscovery exports, and support legal/compliance requests.
  • Operate endpoint and mobile device management (MDM) policies, Chrome management, and Drive/Docs sharing governance to minimise data exposure and enforce secure collaboration patterns.
  • Develop and maintain playbooks, runbooks, and standard operating procedures for common admin tasks, incident response, and onboarding/offboarding processes.
  • Automate recurring admin tasks, reporting, and operational workflows using GAM, Workspace APIs, or scripts; create scheduled reports and alerts to monitor system health and policy adherence.
  • Monitor and respond to incidents, work within defined SLAs, perform root-cause analysis, and implement corrective actions to reduce recurrence.
  • Support Workspace-focused projects (migrations, tenant consolidation, security hardening) and collaborate with engineering, security, and service delivery teams to deliver cloud-first solutions.
  • Manage licensing and cost optimisation reviews, maintain audit logs, and support internal and external compliance audits.
  • Provide internal training and documentation to engineering and support teams to increase platform knowledge and reduce operational risk.

Skills & Qualifications

Must-Have

  • 3+ years experience administering Google Workspace in mid-market or enterprise environments.
  • Hands-on experience with GAM (Google Apps Manager) for administration and automation.
  • Proficiency with Google Workspace Admin Console and Google Vault.
  • Experience with Google Cloud Directory Sync (GCDS) and integration with Active Directory/LDAP.
  • Experience implementing Single Sign-On (SAML/OAuth) and working knowledge of identity federation.
  • Experience with Mobile Device Management and Chrome device management.
  • Practical knowledge of Data Loss Prevention concepts and policy configuration within Workspace.
  • Strong troubleshooting, scripting (e.g., Python, Bash), and API automation skills.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to produce operational documentation and communicate with global stakeholders.

Preferred

  • Familiarity with Google Workspace APIs and programmatic management.
  • Experience with Active Directory integration, federation, and identity lifecycle management.
  • Relevant certifications such as Google Certified Administrator or Google Professional Collaboration Engineer.
  • Experience with security monitoring, SIEM integrations, and platform hardening projects.

Education & Other

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent practical experience preferred.
  • Ability to work on-site in India; occasional travel may be required for client engagements.
