Jakarta is where we build and run the product for the Indonesian market. Commercial, growth, operations, and customer teams all sit together in one office.
The role
You'll own risk management at Honest: credit, market, operational, strategic, liquidity, legal, compliance, and reputation. You'll set our risk appetite, build the systems that catch problems before they get expensive, and represent Honest to OJK, Bank Indonesia, and our lending partners. This is a senior seat with direct visibility to the board.
What you'll do
• Own risk management across all eight risk types OJK requires we track: credit, market, operational, strategic, liquidity, legal, compliance, and reputation.
• Write and maintain the risk appetite statement, risk limits, and worst-case contingency plan, and get board sign-off on all three every year.
• Run Honest's risk function independently from the business and operations teams, and report directly to the board on our risk exposure.
• Represent Honest to OJK, Bank Indonesia, lenders, and partners on every risk matter, including the annual risk profile report OJK requires each February.
• Review new products, partnerships, and underwriting changes for risk exposure before they launch.
• Build the reporting that gives leadership a clear, regular read on where Honest's risk actually sits, not just where policy says it should sit.
• Build a risk-aware culture across the company through training and plain communication, not just documentation.
What we're looking for
• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, or a related field. An MBA, FRM, PRM, or CFA is a plus.
• Real experience running or building risk management inside a regulated financial institution: a bank, multifinance company, insurer, or pension fund.
• Working knowledge of the OJK and Bank Indonesia rules that apply to finance companies and credit card issuers.
• A track record of building risk frameworks, not just maintaining ones someone else built.
• Comfortable representing the company to regulators and lenders, and holding your ground in the room.
• Fluent English. Experience working across markets is a plus.
• Sharp analytical thinking paired with the communication skills to get a skeptical board on your side.
What makes you stand out
• Experience with consumer lending or credit card risk, including underwriting and collections.
• Direct experience working with OJK, Bank Indonesia, or another financial regulator.
• Excited to build a risk function from the ground up, not just run one that already exists.
