What To Expect (Job Responsibilities)
- Schedule medical appointments by coordinating patients, providers, and facility resources, ensuring adherence to established protocols
- Utilize electronic medical record and scheduling software to manage appointments, tests, and procedures efficiently
- Obtain and document necessary patient demographics and insurance information for authorizations and referrals
- Provide patients with information and instructions regarding appointments, ensuring they are well-prepared
- Build impactful relationships with patients and providers through effective communication across various channels
What Is Required (Qualifications)
- High school diploma/GED or equivalent working knowledge
- Minimum of 1 year of customer service experience in a healthcare setting, such as medical office or hospital scheduling
- Ability to use technology tools for accurate information retrieval and customer inquiry responses
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to maintain a positive attitude with customers and providers
- Strong organizational and time management skills with accurate keyboarding abilities
How To Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications)
- Experience in an inbound call center or scheduling in a practice management environment
- Familiarity with medical terminology
- Knowledge of payor contract terms and processes
- Additional related education and/or experience
