Summary:
This position provides administrative and clerical support to the Human Resources department and serves as an ambassador for the department and Fort Worth Zoo.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Greet and assist all employees, applicants, and vendors with inquiries, website access, basic benefit information, employee self-service access and troubleshooting, general work-related questions, etc.
Prepare and assist with pre-employment and new hire paperwork and first day requirements
Prepare and maintain employee personnel files in compliance with applicable legal requirements
Process incoming and outgoing mail
Answer incoming phone calls and maintain the department voicemail
Order, prepare, issue and log annual employee comp tickets
Prepare employee information packets (payroll cards, 401k, treatment authorizations, etc.)
Complete and return employment verification requests
Assist with onboarding activities to include orientations
Assist with recruiting activities including job postings, applications and job fair (onsite and offsite)
Maintain and order office supply inventory
Maintain inventory log of warehouse storage
Provide overall administrative support to the human resources department
Perform clerical functions as requested
Maintains regular and punctual attendance
Qualifications:

Strong interpersonal communication skills
Proficiency with basic computer programs and office equipment
Ability to write simple and professional correspondence
Ability to maintain confidentiality and proficiency in handling sensitive employee matters with discretion
Ability to perform various duties simultaneously with efficiency and focus
Successful at organizing workload to ensure timely and accurate task completion
Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to applicants and other employees of the organization
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished orally, written, or diagram form and ability to deal with problems involving several variables in standardized situations
Valid driver license with acceptable motor vehicle record to maintain zoo standards of insurability
Education and/or Experience:
High School diploma or equivalent
Two to three years experience in office administration preferred or certificate from college or technical school with three to six months related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
