Household Operations Manager

The Household Operations Manager will play a pivotal role in supporting the domestic team and collaborating closely with the Estate Director. The primary focus will be on managing household personnel, aligning with the family’s expectations, and ensuring seamless day-to-day operations across the estate.

Candidate Profile:

The successful candidate should have a background as a Household Operations Manager, Butler, Estate Director, or Personal Assistant for a busy household. They will be adept in organizing household staff, coordinating schedules, handling expense tracking, managing household inventory, interpreting and communicating family preferences, and comfortably managing personal errands and family-related matters.

The right individual will be personable, articulate, and equipped with superior communication skills, both written and verbal. A proactive, service-driven outlook is essential, as this role will directly contribute to the household’s smooth operation.

Key Responsibilities:

Serve and manage daily meal arrangements, ensure menus are aligned with family preferences.

Oversee the full operation of the residence, maintaining consistency in standards and services.

Assist with family travel preparations, packing, shopping, and serve as a personal valet to household staff.

Handle seasonal organization of clothing and wardrobes, ensuring apparel and accessories are well-maintained.

Maintain and communicate household calendars and schedules, with advanced notice for events and maintenance.

Manage property invoices, ensuring timely submission and processing.

Prioritize tasks, resolve issues quickly and efficiently, and see projects through to completion, often under time constraints.

Respond to special requests from family members and guests, managing specific projects as needed.

Oversee children’s schedules, including coordinating activities, camps, and birthdays.

Coordinate guest arrivals and departures, accommodating any special requests.

Oversee all aspects of meal setup, service (both formal and informal), and bartending for family and guests.

Support in planning and organizing events and dinners within the residence.

Manage personal and household shopping needs as required.

Monitor and reconcile staff credit card expenditures, ensuring on-time payments each month.

Arrange travel for staff as needed, including flights, accommodations, and transportation.

Qualifications:

Exemplary professionalism, strong communication, and exceptional interpersonal skills.

Positive references from both current and past employers.

Minimum of 2–3 years’ experience in a similar role within a private residence.

Background in food and beverage service.
