Olumawu School is seeking a dedicated, caring, and highly organized Housemistress to oversee the welfare, safety, and personal development of students in the boarding house. The ideal candidate will be passionate about student care, possess strong leadership skills, and be committed to maintaining a supportive and disciplined boarding environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Ensure the safety, welfare, and well-being of all boarding students.

• Supervise daily boarding house operations and routines.

• Maintain discipline while fostering a warm, nurturing, and supportive environment.

• Monitor students’ academic progress, attendance, and personal development.

• Provide guidance, mentorship, and emotional support to students.

• Coordinate boarding house activities, schedules, and recreational programs.

• Maintain accurate records of student attendance, health, and behavior.

• Liaise effectively with parents, teachers, school administrators, and healthcare providers.

• Ensure compliance with school policies, health regulations, and safeguarding procedures.

• Respond appropriately to emergencies and student welfare concerns.

 

Qualifications and Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Education, Psychology, Social Sciences, Child Development, or a related field.

• Minimum of 3 years’ experience working with children or adolescents in a school, boarding, residential, or pastoral care setting.

• Strong interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills.

• Ability to manage student welfare issues with professionalism and confidentiality.

• Excellent organizational and problem-solving abilities.

• Knowledge of child safeguarding and welfare practices.

• First Aid certification is an added advantage.

• Must be mature, responsible, compassionate, and capable of living on campus if required.
