Housing Policy Project & Admin Specialist

The Housing Division (HD) partners with local governments, Tribes, housing authorities, nonprofits and other organizations to develop and preserve affordable housing, promote individual and family self-sufficiency, and reduce adult and youth homelessness. Reporting to the Housing Policy Manager in the Housing Division (HD), this position provides professional level project assistance and administrative support within the Policy and Strategic Initiatives Unit.

This position is responsible for tasks related to project development, implementation, monitoring, with a focus on coordination and communications. It also relies on knowledge of state government and administrative policies and procedures, office methods, research methods, and data collection to support day-to-day functions and the smooth operation of the Policy and Strategic Initiatives Unit. It is a member of the division’s Lead Support Team and assists with the development and recommendation of division policies and best practices with a substantial focus on development and implementation of the Policy and Strategic Initiatives unit admin procedures to ensure quality, streamlining, and cohesiveness that meets the needs of internal and external customers and stakeholders.

This position may also provide support in special projects as assigned by the Unit Director or Unit Manager, HD’s Management Team, or the division Deputy Assistant Director or Assistant Director, with the ability to provide support in the absence of another unit’s administrative assistant. This position is also responsible for maintaining strong relationships with diverse agency partners and stakeholders by fostering a collaborative policy development environment in which community input is highly valued.

Duties

Assist in the coordination, development, and implementation of special projects and provisos, as required by the legislature and/or Housing Division leadership.

Maintain communication and coordination among the internal unit staff, other division units, partners, internal and external stakeholders, and other Commerce staff related to project development, implementation, and monitoring.

Prepare, draft, review, and distribute unit announcements, noticing, talking points, press releases, and other public communications about unit projects and programs for internal and external stakeholders, with oversight from higher level staff.

Research, collect, and analyze current data and information; develop related materials, slides, reports, and dashboards to communicate this information for internal and external stakeholders,

Assist in development and compliance monitoring of contracts.
