As the largest state agency, the HR Records Specialist plays a critical role in ensuring the Department’s compliance with all rules and regulations pertaining to confidentiality policies. The HR Records Specialist is responsible for detailed information gathering, input, and maintenance of all records for former and current employees in a timely manner, to maintain their electronic files. This is no small coordinative task with 19,000+ positions. The strength of this position lies in the variety and scope of policy and procedures knowledge.

This position is responsible for the following:

Completing Verifications

Name Changes

Recordkeeping (scanning large volumes of information submitted from the field)

Internal Actions

This is a full-time position (40 hours per week) with State Benefits.

About the Department of Adult Correction (DAC)The North Carolina Department of Adult Correction is responsible for the care, custody, and supervision of all adults sentenced after conviction for violating North Carolina laws. This department includes State Prisons, Correction Enterprises, the Division of Community Supervision, and the Division of Rehabilitation & Reentry.

The Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities listed below, along with the Minimum Education and Experience requirements, are REQUIRED to qualify for this position. We will not review resumes in lieu of the Experience and Education listed on the application.

To qualify for this position, applicants must document on the application that they possess ALL of the following:

Basic knowledge and experience with a variety of office equipment, HRIS system, and/or record management system.

Basic knowledge of federal, state, and local rules and regulations related to HR and record keeping.

Demonstrated experience maintaining confidentiality and/or effectively handle highly sensitive and personal information with sound judgement, tact, and discretion.

High school diploma or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and two years of related administrative experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
