Human Resources Specialist

Job Summary

The Human Resources Specialist/Assistant supports the day-to-day operations of Human Resources departmental functions and duties. The HR Specialist/Assistant will promote HR practices and objectives that provide an employee-oriented culture that emphasizes empowerment, quality, productivity and standards, goal attainment, and the recruitment and ongoing development of a superior workforce. Reporting directly to the Director of Human Resources, they will support the implementation of services, policies, and programs through HR staff, and assist team members with HR initiatives.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

Provide administrative support within the Human Resources department, including data entry, application support, filing, managing email inboxes and phone traffic, and answering basic HR related inquiries from employees

Track and analyze data, audits, and reports to provide updates to improve employee experience

Create and distribute pre-hire assessments, run background screenings, and track hiring compliance

Payroll processing support including commissions and bonus distribution

Maintain applicant tracking system and contact applicants to schedule phone interviews, onsite interviews, and travel arrangements

EDD claims/ Garnishment

Handle confidential information and emergency/safety issues with confidence, sensitivity, and professionalism

Work independently as well as in a team environment and exercise good judgment with excellent follow-through

Generate official internal documents such as offer letters, appointment letters, salary slips and warning letters

Create onboarding plans and educating newly hired employees on HR policies, benefits, internal procedures, and regulations

Maintain physical and digital files for employees and their documents, benefits, and attendance records

Create employee engagement plans, getting necessary budget approval, and initiating activities

Collaborate with outside vendors, upper management, and employees to maintain CSR standards conscripted by authorities

Evaluate employee performance and appraising their pay scale accordingly

Take appropriate disciplinary action against employees who violate rules and regulations and addressing employee grievances

Support all other key HR initiatives and programs, as assigned

Requirements

2 years of experience in an HR related role

1+ years direct payroll and commissions administration experience

Experience working in ADP, preferred

Experience with employee/customer facilitation, interactions, and correspondence

Strong organizational, critical thinking and communications skills

Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Excellent organizational skills and superior attention to detail

Ability to multi-task, work independently, and maintain confidentiality

Strong computer skills including proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook

Preferred Qualifications

Associate’s or bachelor’s in human resources, business, or related field

Knowledge of California state and federal laws and human resources policies and practices

Experience with an HRIS, ATS, CRM, LMS and other related systems/applications

Compensation

$27-$28 per hour, based on experienced
