Duties

If selected for this position, you will join a well-respected team that is responsible for office automation and clerical support duties in the United States Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of Georgia.

Typical work assignments will include:
Receiving telephone calls and visitors to the office.
Controlling access to the office and ensuring only properly cleared visitors are authorized entry.
Providing general information regarding off ice programs.
Processing all incoming and outgoing mail.
Using various software to produce a variety of documents;
Prepares time and attendance (T&A) for assigned personnel.
Responsibilities will increase and assignments will become more complex as your training and experience progress

You must be a U.S. Citizen or National
Initial appointment is conditioned upon a satisfactory pre-employment adjudication. This includes fingerprint, credit and tax checks, and drug testing. Continued employment is subject to a favorable adjudication of a background investigation
You must be registered for Selective Service, if applicable
If selected, you may be required to complete a one year probationary period.
You must meet all qualification requirements upon the closing date of this announcement.
Qualifications
GS-5:To be eligible at the GS-5 level, you must meet at least ONE of the following conditions, as defined below: Specialized Experience, Education, OR a combination of Education and Experience.

Specialized Experience:One full year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-4 level. Specialized Experience is defined as experience receiving telephone calls and greeting visitors to the office; responding to inquiries and providing general information; producing a variety of written documents utilizing several types of office automation software; and entering information into an automated database.

Education:Successfully completed four (4) years of education above high school level OR possess a bachelor’s or higher degree (transcripts required). One year of full-time academic study is defined as 30 semester hours, 45 quarter hours or the equivalent in a college or university, or at least 20 hours of classroom instruction per week for approximately 36 weeks in a business, secretarial or technical school.
