Infrastructure Engineer (x1)
Digicel Pacific is seeking applications from qualified professionals to join the Technical Department.
The Role
The Infrastructure Engineer reports to the Head of IT and is responsible for administering IT systems in DCs including backup and recovery operations, performance tuning, administration of IT systems users, space and disk utilization as well as H/W installations, racking and maintenance of physical systems, cabling and/or similar tasks.
Key responsibilities
- Installing and maintaining operating environments.
- Monitoring these operating environments.
- Responding effectively and speedily to any problems.
- Maintaining a professional demeanor with clients and colleagues.
- Providing training and support.
- Ensuring operating environments stay safe and secure.
- Updating any software and hardware where necessary.
- Documenting all reported malfunctions and actions taken in response.
- Documenting Topology of IT Systems in DC and preparing IT Infra Diagram (H/W Level)
Academic qualifications, Experience & Skills required for this role:
- Degree in Computer Science, IT
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in similar role
- O/S (Unix/Linux or similar) Administration Certification
- Knowledge of IT Systems Administration (Unix, Linux, Windows or similar)
- Knowledge of Physical Server installation and deployment
- Knowledge of IT Procedures and Drawing tools (Visio, PowerPoint or similar)
- Proactive and self-motivated, action orientated and effective and punctual with action completion and follow up.
- Service management – providing response, diagnosis, and resolution for problems raised with the application in accordance with the service levels agreed with the various user communities
- Effective trouble shooting – problem analysis, resolution, and overall problem management.
