Our client in Downtown
Toronto, ON is actively looking for a Legal Assistant to join their team.
Position

Description:

  • Assist lawyers by assembling, organizing, and maintaining client and case information.
  • Draft, revise, and finalize litigation documents including pleadings, motions, notices, affidavits, and correspondence.
  • Coordinate the service and filing of court documents, including preparing Affidavits of Service and liaising with process servers as needed.
  • Prepare and proofread estate planning documents such as wills, powers of attorney, and related trust materials.
  • Act as a secondary witness for client document signings when required.
  • Support all aspects of estate administration from file opening through to completion.
  • Maintain and organize wills, trusts, and related databases or vault records.
  • Ensure all legal documents are completed accurately and within required deadlines or court timelines.
  • Format, hyperlink, and prepare documentation for electronic court filings and service.
  • Monitor and track critical dates, limitation periods, and procedural deadlines.
  • Scan, upload, and electronically file large volumes of correspondence and documentation.
  • Proofread letters and prepare enclosures for outgoing communications.
  • Communicate with clients and external parties in a professional, courteous manner.
  • Maintain confidentiality and produce high-quality, detail-oriented work.
  • Handle administrative responsibilities such as scheduling, billing support, and file organization.
  • Coordinate and prepare for meetings and manage lawyers’ calendars.
  • Demonstrate initiative, good judgment, and the ability to work independently and collaboratively.

    Qualifications:

  • Minimum of three years’ experience in a legal assistant or law clerk role, with experience in litigation
  • Completion of a recognized Legal Assistant or Law Clerk program
    .
  • Working knowledge of the Ontario Rules of Civil Procedure
    .
  • Experience with Case Lines and ACL is considered an asset.
