Kilpatrick, a large international law firm, is seeking a Legal Practice Specialist for our Litigation Department in our Houston, TX office. This position will be part of our team of attorneys, paralegals, and support staff providing a high level of service to both internal and external clients. The Legal Practice Specialist is responsible for coordinating the work of team members supporting multiple attorneys, including Partners, Counsel, Associates, and Patent Agents. The role requires in-depth knowledge of legal processes and provides advanced legal and administrative support.

This position also offers support to other teams and attorneys as needed and works closely with Legal Practice Specialists and Coordinators to ensure effective coverage and task distribution.

Essential Job Functions:

Manage case workflow and support

Prioritize and coordinate work assignments to meet support needs

Utilize firm resources like the Resource Center, Research Services, and Records

Provide quality control and manage deadlines

Monitor docketing and trial calendars

Assist team members with timekeeper requests

Research facts, court rules, and case law

Draft pleadings, file court documents, and prepare legal documents

Assist in motions and prepare Tables of Authority and Contents

Coordinate logistics for depositions, mediations, and arbitrations

Proofread and edit documents for accuracy

Prepare binders and manage mailing and client contacts

Generate reports, presentations, and spreadsheets

Assist with calendar and travel arrangements

Process expense reimbursements and reconcile credit card statements

Open new client and matter files

Perform routine document management tasks

Knowledge/

Skills Required:

Bachelor’s degree and/or ABA certification preferred

Minimum of 10 years litigation experience, including trial prep and filing in Texas courts

Proficiency in MS Office and docketing software (Compu Law preferred)

Extensive knowledge of Texas and appellate court systems

Familiarity with legal terminology, discovery, and trial processes

Ability to quickly learn new legal software

Strong communication, organizational, and teamwork skills

Ability to work under tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment

Attention to detail and confidentiality

This is a full-time position with a comprehensive benefits package, including health, life, disability, retirement, holidays, and paid time off. The role offers a hybrid work schedule. The hourly pay range is $34.20 to $51.28 in Houston.
