Are you an experienced Litigation and / or Bankruptcy Legal Secretary tired of the commute to DC? One of our favorite clients is looking for a Legal Administrative Assistant to join the Litigation Department
Primary Duties and Responsibilities :
Provide comprehensive administrative support to attorneys specializing in employment law and / or litigation.
Handle electronic filing (e-filing) and service of court documents in both state and federal courts in Maryland, DC and Virginia.
Maintain attorney calendars, deadlines, litigation dates and reminders.
Type and proofread legal documents, including all types of pleadings and correspondence.
Manage and organize case files, ensuring all relevant documents, including discovery, are properly filed and easily accessible.
Coordinate with clients, court personnel, and other parties involved in litigation.
Maintenance of digital and physical files.
Schedule and coordinate meetings, depositions, hearings, and other appointments.
Assist attorneys as needed with administrative support.
Qualifications and Skills :
5+ years of assistant / secretarial or administrative support experience in an employment or litigation department / practice.
A bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
Knowledge of legal procedures, terminology, and court rules related to litigation.
E-filing of pleadings in both state and federal courts in Maryland, DC and Virginia.
Ability to adapt to changing priorities and demands.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including comfort and skill in speaking with clients.
Proficient in technology, Microsoft Office (and in particular expertise in Microsoft Word) and document management software (experience in i-Manage beneficial), and able to effectively use other litigation software.
