This program promotes parent accountability and self-sufficiency while reducing the financial and medical support burden on the public. DCSS also administers outreach programs such as Fatherhood, Prison Re-Entry, and Parental Accountability Court, aimed at increasing non-custodial parental involvement in children’s lives.

The Georgia Department of Human Services (DHS), through the Division of Child Support Services (DCSS), is seeking candidates for the position of Legal Secretary 1. This position is based in Carrollton, Carroll County, GA.

Pay Grade: F

Under direct supervision, assists in preparing legal documents and correspondence, and supports legal staff in court proceedings.

Role and Responsibilities:

Ensures delivery of legal correspondence to clients, witnesses, parties, and court officials.

Opens and closes case files.

Organizes and maintains case files, documents, and reference materials.

Prepares and processes legal documents such as summonses, subpoenas, complaints, appeals, motions, and pretrial agreements.

Retrieves, copies, and distributes files and documents.

Schedules appointments, maintains calendars, and handles telephone communications.

Types and edits legal memos, briefs, motions, and other documents from notes or dictation.

Performs additional professional responsibilities as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

High school diploma or GED

One (1) year of experience in an office setting using computer software.

Preferred Skills and

Qualifications:

Preference will be given to candidates with:

One (1) year of experience in a legal office environment with technology hardware and software.

Two (2) years of office experience reviewing legal documents and using legal office technology.

One (1) year of experience as an administrative assistant or secretary.
