The Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT) is seeking a dependable, reliable, and attentive person with excellent communication skills to fill an Office Specialist II position supporting UDOT’s Region Four East District in Price, Utah.

This position will provide clerical, financial, and organizational support to the District’s leaders and activities. In addition, this position plays a key role in supporting statewide strategic initiatives for Zero Fatalities, employee recognition, and the Beautify Utah program.

Principle Duties

Provides administrative and clerical support to the UDOT Region Four East District Management Team.
Greets patrons at the reception desk and answers incoming calls and emails with the goal of creating a positive customer experience.
Schedules and coordinates appointments, meetings, facilities, meals, equipment, etc., and follows up as needed.
Receives, researches, and responds to incoming questions or complaints; provides information, explains policy and procedures, and/or facilitates a resolution.
Drafts correspondence, reports, articles, brochures, scripts, news releases, or material of a technical nature, as well as other written materials.
Edits written material for accuracy, format, and arrangement of material.
Analyzes, summarizes, and/or reviews data; reports findings, interprets results and/or makes recommendations.
Coordinates and acts as a liaison between Region Four and other agencies, work units, organizations, consulting firms, etc.
Assists with oversight of the Department’s public outreach initiatives.
Processes career achievement awards.
Creates and maintains files or recordkeeping systems.
Orders office supplies.
Processes invoices from the Price equipment shop.
Assists with warehouse duties.
Provides strategic and creative development as needed.
Completes other duties as assigned.

The Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate for this position is someone who:

Has three or more years of experience working in a professional office environment.
Has excellent computer skills and demonstrates proficiency using various computer programs including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneDrive, etc.), G Suite (Gmail, Google Calendar, Google Drive, Google Docs, Google Sheets, Google Slides, etc.), website development software, and video conferencing software.
Communicates efficiently and effectively.
Has excellent customer service skills.
Works with others in a manner which shows sensitivity, tact, and professionalism.
Is self-motivated, proactive, responsive, and detail-oriented.
Can exercise initiative and independent judgment, and is able to act resourcefully under varying conditions.

Preference
Preference may be given to applicants with:

Transportation knowledge and experience.
Public relations or communications experience.

Risks found in the typical office setting, which is adequately lighted, heated, and ventilated, e.g., safe use of office equipment, avoiding trips and falls, observing fire regulations, etc.
Typically, the employee may sit comfortably to perform the work; however, there may be some walking; standing; bending; carrying light items; driving an automobile, etc. Special physical demands are not required to perform the work.
Employee may be reassigned to a different location as deemed necessary by the Region Director/Group Leader.

Pay: $14.66 – $27.52 per hour
