This role will be supporting our Governmental Plan Sponsors in the Central region of the country. You will be responsible for supporting day to day administration of Governmental 457(b) and 401(a) plans as well as providing sales support to your local Program Directors, Retirement Specialists and Executive Relationship Managers. Ideal candidates should have:

Fully remote, or hybrid, or onsite work available depending on preference. This position will support customers in Central Time (CT). .

As a Specialist, you’ll be responsible for administration of assigned plans by completing periodic valuation, data input, benefit determination/contribution allocations, compliance testing and preparing statements, information for invoices and participant loan documents.
Job Description
Key Responsibilities:
Administers assigned, basic to intermediate plans by completing periodic valuations, compliance testing, participant benefit statements, determining appropriate benefits amounts and preparation of participant loan documents and development of amortization and repayment schedules.
Calculates profit sharing contributions.
Completes periodic/annual valuations.
Processes refunds to participants related to compliance testing. May calculate participant eligibility.
Conducts mid-year calculations and training as needed.
Consults with customer service associates on document changes/amendments.
Prepares submission of larger or more complex 5500’s, primarily audit plans/cross-tested plans.
Performs annual compliance non-discrimination testing and quality control reviews.
Assists external auditors with IRS audits and regulatory changes.
Assists, as needed, with critical compliance-related issues.
May perform other responsibilities as assigned.
Reporting Relationships: Reports to Operations Division Manager or Unit Manager.
Typical Skills and Experiences:

Education: Undergraduate studies or equivalent related work experience.
License/Certification/Designation: FINRA NASD Series 6 license required; participation in professional development programs such as ASPPA, CEBS or NIPA is desirable. Associates must acquire the required Federal and/or state licenses/registrations within the time period designated by the business unit. Additional licenses/registrations may be required when new products and services are implemented. If an associate fails or is unable to obtain required licenses/registrations within the designated time period, the associate will be ineligible to continue in the position.
Experience: Four to six years of financial services experience, with at least three years in retirement plans.
Knowledge, Abilities and Skills: Thorough knowledge of qualified retirement plan concepts, understanding plan documents, reconciliation of plan assets and thorough knowledge of Internal Revenue Code and Department of Labor regulations. Working knowledge of investments including annuities, mutual funds, employer stock and partnerships, etc. and the financial marketplace. Continuous development in laws and regulations about qualified retirement plans, continuous improvement and customer service. Ability to effectively communicate. Ability to analyze and recommend solutions to business issues. Ability to explain governmental requirements and investment products to plan sponsors, their representatives and producers. Ability to analyze the business needs of a customer or potential customer to develop and design the appropriate plan(s) to fit the needs and desires of their client(s). Strong interpersonal, communication and facilitation skills. Working knowledge of products, services and processes of the related business unit. Ability to develop and maintain strong collaborative relationships with business unit and client. Ability to lead multiple tasks and projects. Ability to evaluate and recommend problem resolutions. Strong interpersonal and facilitation skills. Must be able to lead multiple tasks and projects. Must have the ability to research issues thoroughly, evaluate and recommend issue resolutions. Proven problem-solving skills, identifying problem situations and generating viable solutions.
Other criteria, including leadership skills, competencies and experiences may take precedence.

Nationwide pays on a geographic-specific salary structure and placement within the actual starting salary range for this position will be determined by a number of factors including the skills, education, training, credentials and experience of the candidate; the scope, complexity and location of the role as well as the cost of labor in the market; and other conditions of employment. If a Sales job, Sales Incentives, based on performance goals are possible in addition to this range.
The national salary range for Specialist, Plan Administration : $61,000.00-$126,500.00
The expected starting salary range for Specialist, Plan Administration : $68,000.00 – $102,000.00
