MRI, a woman-owned Technologies and Engineering Services company, has an exciting opportunity for anAdministrative Specialist – Mission Scienceon the JETS II Contract at NASA Johnson Space Center in Houston, TX. We are excited about what we do, and we need you on our team as we take on exciting challenges for NASA’s pursuits in deep space exploration. This position supports the JETS II Mission Science group, including both the Orbital Debris Research and Hypervelocity Impact Technology teams.
As anAdministrative Specialist – Mission Scienceyou will:
Administration
Travel coordinator across a group consisting of multiple teams
Submit purchase requisitions (PRs) for the group; monitor purchasing and shipping statuses and help expedite when necessary; maintain detailed tracking spreadsheets; correspond with shipping support personnel
Manage group calendars and related scheduling
Maintain office supply inventory by checking stock to maintain inventory levels; anticipating needed supplies; placing and monitoring orders; verifying receipt of supplies
Prepare and manage project correspondence, interoffice and interdepartmental communications as instructed
Receive, sort, and distribute incoming mail
Update and maintain databases such as mailing lists, contact lists and client information
Maintain office administrative filing and storage systems, both hard copy and digital
Manage badging requests for visitors to on-site group related NASA facilities
Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related administrative tasks as needed
Meeting Support
Schedule and coordinate meetings for both in-person conference rooms and Microsoft Office Teams meetings
Prepare meeting presentations and other support materials, as well as setup meeting rooms
Support special meetings and events such as conferences and award ceremonies
Record, compile, transcribe, and distribute minutes of meetings, as needed
Archive Maintenance
Retrieve information from internal archive or order from STI Center library on request
Learn and apply cataloging rules and procedures specific to this collection
Download files from conferences and archive for digital reference
Here’s What You’ll Need:
Requisition Qualifications:
Requires a HS diploma or its equivalent and a minimum of 4 years of experience in the field or in a related area.
The work requires a basic knowledge of proper office procedures. Must have ability to follow instructions.
Proficient in spelling, punctuation, grammar, and other English language skills
Ability to operate a personal computer including email, Internet connections, MS Teams, SharePoint, and software related to collection database and scanner
Experience with Microsoft Office and operation of standard office equipment
Ability to work in a team-based environment and independently
Ability to communicate effectively and professionally
Requisition Preferences:
High school diploma or equivalent
Proof of U.S. Citizenship or US Permanent Residency may be a requirement for this position.
