Incumbent serves as Administrative Clerk/Receptionist for the Warrick County Clerk’s Office,

responsible for answering telephone, greeting office visitors, and performing various clerical

duties.

DUTIES:

Answers telephone and greets office visitors, including providing information and assistance,

researching records, taking messages, and transferring/directing to appropriate individual or

department. Provides information regarding court dates, costs, and files as needed.

Performs various clerical duties including, locating files, copying/filing/faxing documents, and

preparing/sorting mail. Assist with postage machine as needed.

Processes marriage applications, issues marriage licenses, and prepares certified copies.

Oversees weddings in department office and jail.

Assists the public, such as filling out forms and providing list of genealogy researchers.

Provides SR16 forms for traffic infractions to defendants and submits forms to State daily.

Performs night court duties as assigned, such as receiving and providing receipts. Periodically

performs duties of other department personnel in their absence as needed.

Performs related duties as assigned.

I. JOB REQUIREMENTS AND DIFFICULTY OF WORK:

High school diploma or GED.

Working knowledge of Department and Circuit/Superior Court policies and procedures, federal

and state laws, and related legal terminology.

Working knowledge of standard office procedures, basic computer skills including word

processing/spreadsheet/email/presentation and Department-specific software/applications, with

ability to apply such knowledge to a variety of interrelated processes, tasks, and operations.

Working knowledge of standard filing systems with ability to create and maintain accurate and

complete Department files.

Working knowledge of standard English grammar, spelling, and punctuation and ability to

prepare documents and written reports as required.

Ability to properly operate standard office equipment, including computer, typewriter, calculator,

fax machine, postage meter, copier, telephone, and other equipment as needed.

Ability to provide public access to, or maintain confidentiality of, department information and

records according to state requirements.

Ability to comply with all employer and department policies and work rules, including, but not

limited to, attendance, safety, drug-free workplace, and personal conduct.

Ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing with co-workers, other County

departments, court personnel, and the public including being sensitive to professional ethics,

gender, cultural diversities, and disabilities.

Ability to understand, memorize, retain, and carry out oral and written instructions and present

findings in oral or written form.

Ability to work alone with minimum supervision and with others in a team environment.

Ability to work on several tasks at the same time, often under time pressure.

Ability to perform simple arithmetic operations, such as counting, adding, and subtracting.

Ability to occasionally work evenings.

II. RESPONSIBILITY:

Incumbent performs duties according to a flexible, customary routine with priorities determined

by the service needs of the public. Assignments follow standard operating procedures or policy

and procedural manuals. Decisions are always determined by specific instructions or existing,

well established policies and procedures. Errors in work are primarily detected through

notification from other departments or the public. Undetected errors could result in loss of time

to correct error and/or inconvenience to other agencies of the public.

III. PERSONAL WORK RELATIONSHIPS:

Incumbent maintains frequent contact with co-workers, other County departments, court

personnel, and the public for the purposes of exchanging information and rendering service.

Incumbent reports directly to Chief Deputy.

IV. PHYSICAL EFFORT AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Incumbent performs duties in a standard office environment and service counter, including

sitting/walking at will, lifting/carrying/pushing/pulling objects weighing under 25 pounds,

keyboarding, bending/reaching, hearing sounds/communication, and speaking clearly.

Incumbent occasionally works evenings.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $19.38 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
