The Project Policy Analyst 1 (PPA1) will work closely and collaboratively with principal investigator and project staff to support and advance the objectives of federally-funded research projects focusing on the implications of food insecurity in relation to life course cardiovascular health among emerging adults and dementia risk among older adults.
The PPA1 will play an essential role in maintaining the quality and accuracy of research outputs that inform strategic decision-making and program development. This position involves analytical, organizational and administrative responsibilities that support daily project operations. The PPA1 will be responsible for: supporting project planning and coordinating timelines, tracking deliverables, and organizing critical information; assisting with data entry and cleaning, and preparation and dissemination of reports and summaries that highlight significant findings. Additional responsibilities include assistance with preparing IRB applications, literature reviews, and Endnote libraries.
The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy.
Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement.
The salary range for this position is $52,800 – $64,500 (Annual Rate).

Department Description
The Department of Epidemiology & Biostatistics (DEB) is concerned with understanding the causes of disease and health conditions in populations and interventions to reduce their impact on patients and the public health. The department is one of forty-one units within the School of Medicine (SOM) and includes two main sets of activities: 1) the administrative and scientific home for a large set of epidemiological research projects, and 2) training in epidemiology for health science graduate students, fellows, house staff, and faculty. The Department has strong ties to all elements of the UCSF campus but especially to the Department of Medicine’s Divisions of the General Internal Medicine, SFGH and VAMC; to the Department of Family and Community Medicine; to the Institute of Health Policy Studies; the UCSF AIDS Research Institute; the Center for AIDS Prevention Studies (CAPS), the Center for Health and Community, Global Health Sciences (GHS) and the Institute for Human Genetics (IHG). The incumbent reports to the manager for all aspects of the Department. Important objectives include ensuring compliance with applicable agency and University policies and guidelines.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training
Skills to learn organization-specific and other computer application programs
Basic communication and interpersonal skills to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing
Ability to use discretion and maintain all confidentiality
Ability to use sound judgment in responding to issues and concerns
Basic skills to analyze and research information and learn to synthesize large amounts of data with strong attention to detail
Basic program and project management skills
Acquiring knowledge of applicable policy analysis techniques
Working knowledge of basic computer application programs (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Zoom)
