Job Summary

The purpose of this position is to provide administrative support services to a supervisor and/or director and the staff members in the education department. This position follows a typical school year schedule with the addition of working the MSA summer school program in July.

Job duties include:

Provide assistance and direction in a variety of office tasks to ensure efficiency, communication, and productivity in the department.
Update and utilize student information systems, other data bases, and/or documentation systems with current information following direction from supervisors/directors.
Responsible for student and staff attendance on the MSAD campus – receives calls in the morning and ensures sub coverage; communication with transportation companies and Faribault Public Schools, communicates with related services and interpreters as needed.
Responsible for daily attendance of all absences, informs substitute teacher or paraprofessional regarding changes, and transmits lesson plans and instructional materials.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications
Customer services skills sufficient to provide information to clients, including phone calls, emails, and walk-in contacts in a helpful and courteous manner.
Fluently communicate in both ASL and English, read, understand, and respond to a variety of communications, such as customers’ questions and applying procedures to resolve work items
Data entry skills sufficient to accurately create database records and update entries or create and apply the basics of spreadsheets and retrieve information in databases.
Communication skills in writing, speaking, and reading sufficient to compose correspondence with accurate spelling, grammar and punctuation; and to communicate effectively with co-workers, customers and the general public.
Typing/keyboarding skills sufficient to complete a variety of reports, letters and data summaries.
Knowledge of spreadsheet and word processing software, such as Microsoft Excel and Word, to compile documents, lists, spreadsheets, and graphs to track activities of the unit
Knowledge of math sufficient to compute the totals, averages, and percentages of numerical data and to check or reconcile data.
Preferred Qualifications
Receptionist/administrative support experience.
Experience with student information systems and software applications such as Google, Microsoft Office, SharePoint, etc)
Research skills sufficient to search for information from different sources to make decisions.
Personal skills necessary to multi-task, prioritize, and follow through work
Problem solving skills Conflict management experience
Physical Requirements
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds (with assistance) and to be able to sit, stand and walk throughout a workday.
Additional Requirements
Employment is contingent upon a successful criminal background check within the past 12 months
