We are currently seeking a part-time receptionist to join our team and provide front-line support to client families and funeral home staff.
Position Summary:
The Part-Time Receptionist is responsible for providing clerical and administrative support to ensure the efficient operation of the funeral home. This individual serves as a first point of contact for families and visitors, handles incoming calls, assists with services, and supports various office functions with professionalism and empathy.
Key Responsibilities:
Greet and assist families and visitors in a warm, compassionate, and professional manner
Answer multi-line phones courteously; screen calls and relay messages accurately
Take ‘first call’ information and notify appropriate staff promptly
Assist with visitations, memorial, and funeral services, including setting up floral arrangements, photos, and family mementos
Prepare and process documents related to services, cremations, and general maintenance
Perform data entry into internal systems and verify the accuracy of documents
Maintain a tidy and welcoming reception area; ensure refreshments are available
Run errands such as post office drop-offs, supply pickups, and other administrative errands
Operate standard office equipment (fax, copier, debit machine, stereo/video systems)
Receive deliveries and route them appropriately
Support general office tasks and special requests from management
Requirements:
Education: High school diploma or equivalent required
Experience:
Prior customer service, administrative, or receptionist experience preferred
Experience in funeral service or related industries is a plus
Skills & Abilities:
High level of compassion, professionalism, and discretion
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Able to multitask and remain composed in emotionally sensitive situations
Proficient in Microsoft Office; ability to learn proprietary software systems
Comfortable working independently and as part of a team
Spanish Speaker is a plus, but not required
Licenses: Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record required
