Description of Work

The Domestic Marketing section provides support to NC agriculture commodities and associations, organizes promotional events and activities to support NC agriculture through education, branding programs, grants, and other marketing platforms.

This position provides administrative support for programs in the Domestic Marketing section. This level of support requires thorough understanding of the programs, protocols, and procedures. This position assists the assistant director in coordinating and implementing these programs. Position administers all purchasing for the Domestic Marketing section. This position reports directly to the assistant director for Domestic Marketing and offers administrative support for all staff in the Domestic Marketing section.

The N.C. Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services provide services that promote and improve agriculture, agribusiness and forests; protect consumers and businesses; and conserve farmland and natural resources for the prosperity of all North Carolinians. The Department employs approximately 2,000 employees.

To qualify for this position, applicants must document on the application that they possess ALL of the following:

Knowledge and use of Microsoft Office programs
Basic knowledge of accounting principles and practices as it relates to creation and maintenance of budget worksheets.
Ability to efficiently interpret and analyze program information.
Ability to effectively communicate in both oral and written form, while using correct grammar, organization, and structure
Ability to demonstrate and apply program knowledge in performance of administrative tasks.

MANAGEMENT PREFERENCES:

Knowledge of state and federal guidelines and reporting procedures for various grants funded through federal, state, and private sources.
Experience in accounting and purchasing policies and procedures.
Skills with technical writing experience for composing, editing, and reviewing of documents, publications, websites, social media posts, etc.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

You may qualify by an equivalent combination of education and experience, either through years of education or years of directly related experience, or a combination of both.

High school diploma or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and two years of related administrative experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
