Description of Work

Reporting to the Administrative Officer III, this position will independently perform various administrative and personnel functions and is responsible for managing highly sensitive and confidential information. Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
Assisting the Administrative Specialist I in Human Resources.
Serving as back-up to the Time Administrator and time entries in the personnel system.
Assisting with the processing of personnel actions such as separations, leave of absences, and worker’s compensation claims. Creating and managing worker’s compensation cases.
Updating and maintaining weekly reporting of Correctional Officer vacancies.
Coordinating and setting up facility hiring event activities.
Scheduling new hire training.
Scheduling interviews.
Processing new hire packages.
Assisting with hiring contractual staff.
Serving as the Administrative section Safety Officer.
Serving as a Health Benefits Representative and assists employees with a wide variety of personnel issues and concerns.

This is a full-time position (40 hours per week) with State Benefits.

Pender Correctional Institution is located in Burgaw, North Carolina and houses up to 750 male offenders in a medium custody facility.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities / Competencies

This is in addition to submitting fingerprints during the application process.
