Main Purpose of Job
The main purpose of this position is to provide a full performance level of work using independent judgment and analysis by applying and interpreting rules and regulations in accordance with the units’ laws and policies. Employees in this classification do not supervise.
POSITION DUTIES
Reviews, verifies, and interprets information in records, applications, and other documents by using knowledge of agency policies and procedures to determine if appropriate procedures have been followed and to resolve problems. Assist in the process and issuance of work permits, MPIA requests, or other documents pertinent to the multiple programs in the unit. Answer telephone calls and perform intake of complaints.
Assists in the preparation of final reports and suggest recommendations for the improvement of the agency or its programs. Consult with program heads and administrative officials regarding policies, trends, and interpretation of data and program needs. Research and compiles data, as directed, including the preparation of statistical tables, charts and reports, work-flow charts, staffing patterns, and organizational charts.
Assist the unit in planning and implementing new or revised programs, procedures, practices, and organizations. Provide assistance to the unit administrator in the formulation and preparation of an agency’s budget, or portions of the budget. Responsible for unit purchasing/FMIS processing and vendor payment verification. Open and disseminate mail. Ensure that checks are properly endorsed, prepare check transmittals, and keep financial records not requiring knowledge of bookkeeping or accounting. Updates and maintains files, logs, schedules, rosters, and records and compose routine correspondence for multiple programs within the unit: Worker Classification Protection Unit, Prevailing Wage Unit, Living Wage Unit, and Employment Standards Service Unit, including Innkeepers certification. Use computer software applications to enter, edit, validate, search, retrieve and update information. Type correspondence, reports, schedules, and other material using a typewriter, computer, or word processor.
Perform other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.
Experience: One year of experience performing administrative staff, clerical, clerical technical, or secretarial work.
Notes:
1. Candidates may substitute 30 credit hours from an accredited college or university for the required experience.
2. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a non-commissioned officer involving staff work requiring regular use of independent judgment and analysis in applying and interpreting rules and regulations in accordance with agency laws and policies on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.
DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Preference will be given to applicants who possess the following preferred qualification(s). Include clear and specific information on your application regarding your qualifications.
Experience using Google Applications/Workspace and Microsoft Office Suite.
Experience working independently and working with and supporting multiple projects and programs simultaneously.
Administrative experience including but not limited to creating and compiling reports, handling confidential information, and collecting and tracking data, etc.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
Candidates may be responsible for providing their own transportation as needed to access meetings, remote locations, and job destinations as assigned.

Any unpaid debt may have an impact on whether or not a candidate is offered employment.
