The Opportunity
WSDOT is currently seeking an On-Call Secretary Senior to contribute to our mission of providing safe, reliable, and cost-effective transportation options. This position plays a critical role in fostering a respectful and inclusive work environment, aligning with our focus on diversity, equity, and inclusion. Operating under the general direction of the Forms and Records Analyst 3, this on-call position performs administrative duties for various offices in the Northwest Region. This flexibility is essential for addressing staffing shortages or planned leave, ensuring seamless administrative support across the region. What to Expect
Among the varied range of responsibilities held within this role, the On-Call Secretary Senior will:
Independently prioritize and organize work, maintaining office procedures and standards.
Establish and manage extensive electronic and manual filing systems for personnel, vendors, correspondence, purchasing, contracts, forms, and records.
Receive, review, and distribute incoming mail, responding to or forwarding it to appropriate staff.
Operate a WSDOT vehicle to run mail errands, handling packages weighing up to 50 lbs.
Perform complex word processing tasks, utilizing software to compose and produce letters, memos, and reports.
Handle payment processing for orders, including invoices, discounts, purchasing authority, and payment document preparation.
Communicate with vendors regarding shortages, billing discrepancies, and research invoices lacking identifying information.
Investigate past-due invoices, contacting vendors for copies and adhering to Department of General Administration policies.
Effectively manage large volumes of work quickly, meeting tight deadlines with minimal supervision.
Audit and review labor time sheets, payroll rosters, registers, and warrants, ensuring accuracy and resolving payroll problems.
Qualifications
To be considered for this opportunity, the following are required:
High School graduate or GED equivalency.
Excellent Customer Service Skills.
Ability to safely operate a vehicle to transport goods and materials.
Ability to transport/manipulate up to 50 lbs.
Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite software (Outlook, Word).
It is preferred that qualified candidates also have:
Knowledge of WSDOT departments and field offices, including their functions and locations within the Northwest Region.
Two (2) years of progressively responsible office experience in government.

The salary listed includes the legislative approved 5% salary premium for positions in King County.
In addition to base salary, employees may be entitled to other forms of compensation depending on the type, duties, or location of the position. For union-represented positions, more information on other forms of compensation can be found in the applicable Collective Bargaining Agreements. Information on other compensation types for non-represented positions can be found in Chapter 357-28of the Washington Administrative Code.
