Position Summary:
Work Study Position: Arts Student Advising Program (ASAP)

The roles of the ASAPs:
To support students with their transition to university life;

To assist in advising new and returning students;

To complement the current advising services offered by Arts OASIS.

The responsibilities of the ASAPs:
To provide accurate information about programs, advising, registration and resources;

To refer students to appropriate resources and/or advisors as required

respect the anonymity and confidentiality of students;

To be familiar with the McGill website, especially pertaining to the following information: programs, courses, university regulations and orientation activities

attend information sessions;

To triage lines, phone calls, chats and special projects.

The ASAPs offer a service where students can request and be given accurate information, share their concerns, be listened to and feel that they are part of the McGill experience.

As students, ASAPs are uniquely positioned to have students approach them with concerns they may be hesitant to bring up via other avenues. As such, Arts OASIS places high importance on the advising that ASAPs are able to provide.
