Function

The purpose of this class is to perform a broad spectrum of clerical, technical, and administrative functions in support of the Foster Grandparent Program within the Adult Services Unit of the Hampton Human Services Department for the city of Hampton. This class works under the general supervision of the Foster Grandparent Director and may support special projects as required. May serve as a lead worker.

Minimum Requirements

Completion of High School with a diploma or a GED. Some training to include: Office Administration, or coursework in Business.

Minimum of two (2) years’ work experience in a responsible clerical position.

Must successfully pass a background check related to this position prior to an offer of employment or promotion.

Must possess a valid motor vehicle operator’s license and maintain a satisfactory driving record based on the City of Hampton’s criteria.

Additional Requirements

Requires thorough knowledge of current business practices and protocols involved in providing services and quality customer service to the public. Computer skills in word processing, spreadsheets, dictation, and presentation software required.

The incumbent may be considered “essential personnel” during city emergency situations, or at the direction of the City Manager or designee which may include long hours and unusual schedules.
