Job Description
The Equal Opportunities Commission (EOC) is a statutory body charged with the mandate to eliminate discrimination on the grounds of sex, marital status, pregnancy, breastfeeding, disability, family status and race, as well as to eliminate sexual harassment, breastfeeding harassment, and harassment and vilification on the grounds of disability and race. The EOC promotes equality of opportunities between men and women, between persons with and without a disability and irrespective of family status and race. We are now looking for candidates who are passionate and committed to our mission and vision to apply for the following post in our Corporate Planning and Services Division (CPSD).
Officer II (Administration)
(Monthly Salary of HK$20,770 to HK$35,080)
The Duties
- Provide administrative support in staff training/development programmes and activities, including coordinating participation and logistics, compiling training statistics and preparing end-of-training surveys and training evaluation reports;
- Support the preparation of proposals, briefing notes and presentations, research of project information, as well as the day-to-day coordination of Commission-wide projects;
- Assist in staff communication and engagement initiatives, including staff volunteering activities, by preparing staff communication materials, coordinating participation and providing secretarial and logistical support;
- Manage the EOC library and online resources, including handling renewal subscriptions and procurement requests, providing support to the operation of library services and updating the EOC’s Intranet;
- Provide general administration and secretarial support to the team; and
- Undertake any other duties and provided ad-hoc support as assigned, including but not limited to internal transfer to other divisions within the EOC.
The Person
- University graduate majoring in business administration, human resources, translation or communications preferred but not a must;
- At least two years of full-time post-qualification relevant work experience is required, preferably gained from statutory bodies, NGOs or sizable public organisations an advantage;
- Proficient in computer software applications, such as MS Office, and word processing skills;
- Good communication and interpersonal skills; flexible and able to work under pressure;
- Demonstrates initiative and engagement;
- Good team player, self-starter, able to self-manage and multi-task and be open to diverse ideas; and
- General awareness of issues relating to discrimination and equal opportunities; and committed to EOC’s vision and mission.
Candidates who do not possess a bachelor’s degree but are dedicated to embarking on a career in the EOC and confident that their knowledge, skills and work experiences will enable them to take on the duties of the above post can also apply. If selected, the entry salary will be at HK$17,200 or above depending on the selected candidate’s relevant qualifications, experiences and current earnings.
The selected candidate will start his/her career in the Corporate Planning and Services Division of the EOC. During the employment with the EOC, he/she may be required to undertake alternative duties and/or be requested to take up special assignments for operational or staff development purpose(s) within or outside the function different from their original position and/or Division.
