The 8th Judicial Family Court, Division 3, Warren County has an opening for a Law Clerk. The Law Clerk is responsible for performing under the direct supervision of a Judge, assisting with professional legal tasks related to the court’s docket.

To be an attorney in the state of Kentucky, one must have a Juris Doctor from an accredited law school, pass Kentucky’s bar exam, and be in good standing with the Kentucky Bar Association. Requiring all law clerks to eventually obtain licensure and distinguishing between staff attorneys and law clerks furthers the credibility of the courts by upholding licensure as the professional standard and expectation.

Additionally, licensure ensures a certain aptitude, a commitment to the practice of law, and adherence to continuing legal education and the Code of Professional Responsibility. Upon successful admission to the KBA (swearing in), the Law Clerk will reclass to an applicable Staff Attorney role.
