To provide 24-hour administration support, via a shift system, to ensure the delivery of an efficient, effective quality service to the multi-disciplinary team, patients and their relatives, contributing to the provision of high quality patient care. To be responsible for the day to day management of the Patient Process Administration service. Areas covered within the Acute Medicine Business Unit are Adults Emergency Department, Children’s Emergency Department, Ward 101

  • Day to day first line management of Emergency Department PPAs to ensure a consistent level of service delivery is maintained and comply with the Trust standards and policies
  • Responsible for the provision and leadership of an administrative service. Work as part of a multi-disciplinary team to assist in the overall delivery of patient care.
  • To undertake first line Human Resource Management to include creating and updating rosters, covering any absence / sickness, approving and managing annual leave on the erostering system, signing timesheets, appraisals, ensuring administration team are up to date on their Mandatory training, selection and recruitment, management queries / investigations, sickness and absence return to work interviews, Occupation Health referrals and all of the first level responsibilities for HR functions.
  • To undertake the PPA role if required in the event of staffing shortages. This includes, but is not limited to, registering of patients on arrival, ensuring all demographic and episode details are recorded on the IT systems, arranging out patient appointments and booking of transport.
  • Responsible for planning and coordination of allocating, distributing and prioritising workloads of the PPA team to ensure consistent levels of service provide consistent standards. This will include the creation and administration of the monthly eroster for the PPA team to ensure the required levels of staffing are rostered on duty.
