The Ohio Department of Agriculture is currently seeking candidates for a Plant Health Inspector position in the Plant Health Division, Plant Pest Control /Invasive Species section, headquartered in Montgomery or Warren County. The duties for the Plant Health Inspector position include but are not limited to:

·        Carries out  inspection, trapping, sampling and documenting activities of nursery stock producer and dealer facilities, garden centers, greenhouses, retail stores, plant producers, port or shipping hub environs, sawmills, wholesalers, crop fields, orchards, apiary locations forests and/or landscapes in assigned territory for plant pests and invasive species such as Box Tree Moth, Spotted Lanternfly, Spongy Moth, Sudden Oak Death, Asian Longhorned Beetle (e.g., collects data, determines presence or absence and severity of pest, effects on plant viability and corrective measures)

·          Issues phytosanitary certificates

·         Uses a computer, GPS, tablet or other electronic device to conduct data entry and to accurately complete required paperwork and reports in a timely manner (e.g. inspection reports, weekly and monthly work reports, time accounting reports of findings for all inspections completed and related software to perform research and prepares reports [e.g., inspection forms, annual county disease compilation]).
