Key Responsibilities
- Manage, maintain, and optimize PostgreSQL databases to ensure performance, reliability, and availability.
- Monitor database health, troubleshoot issues, and optimize queries and database performance.
- Support database backup, recovery, replication, and high availability solutions.
- Plan and execute database upgrades, migrations, and routine maintenance.
- Ensure database security, user access control, and operational best practices.
- Collaborate with Backend Engineers and DevOps teams to support product development and system scalability.
- Automate routine database administration tasks using scripting tools.
Qualifications
- 3+ years of experience administering PostgreSQL databases in production environments.
- Strong knowledge of PostgreSQL administration, performance tuning, query optimization, and indexing.
- Experience with backup & recovery, replication, or high availability solutions.
- Good understanding of Linux systems and SQL.
- Experience with Bash, Python, or other scripting languages is a plus.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms or containerized environments is an advantage.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work collaboratively in cross-functional teams.
Nice to Have
- Experience supporting large-scale or high-traffic applications.
- Familiarity with PostgreSQL monitoring tools or automation frameworks.
- Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, or cloud platforms.
- Experience working in a product or internet technology company.
