Hogan Lovells is seeking an experienced Practice Specialist to support the Practice Area Lead of our Mergers & Acquisitions Group, as well as Partners and Associates. The ideal candidate will exhibit strong attention to detail, exceptional communication skills, and the ability to handle confidential matters with senior-level professionalism. The Practice Specialist will serve as the key point of contact both internally and externally for the Practice Area Lead.
The PRACTICE SPECIALIST supports Partners, Practice Leaders, and Business Managers within specific practices. The role involves executing a variety of administrative and legal tasks, providing superior executive service, and producing high-quality work.
The Practice Specialist should maintain advanced knowledge of the practice areas and clients to ensure exceptional client satisfaction while maintaining confidentiality on sensitive matters.
The core responsibilities include:
PRACTICE GROUP RESPONSIBILITIES
Strategy and Business Planning: Assist Practice Leadership with developing initiatives to meet strategic goals.
Marketing & Business Development: Support efforts to raise the practice’s profile, track developments, and develop policies aligned with strategic goals.
Communications: Compose weekly updates, newsletters, and intranet postings to enhance internal practice awareness.
Leadership Meetings and Events: Assist in planning and hosting meetings, events, and conferences.
Visibility and Engagement: Maintain visibility at practice and firm events, support business initiatives, and attend practice meetings.
ADMINISTRATIVE RESPONSIBILITIES
Legal Support: Prepare practice-specific legal documents, maintain confidentiality, and handle sensitive information.
Scheduling: Manage calendars, coordinate meetings, and arrange conference calls and video conferences.
Travel and Expenses: Coordinate travel arrangements and process expense reports.
Time Recording: Record and review billable hours accurately.
Administrative Engagement: Respond professionally to requests, coordinate events, and perform ad hoc projects.
Client Relations: Engage with clients, generate conflict inquiries, open new matters, and draft engagement letters.
Document Production and Records: Create, edit, and organize documents, maintain records, and ensure proper storage.
QUALIFICATIONS
Required Skills:
Typing speed of 60 wpm, excellent grammar, and communication skills.
Literate in Microsoft Office Suite, including PowerPoint, Excel, and Teams.
Strong problem-solving, organizational, and multi-tasking skills.
Ability to work independently, demonstrate initiative, and build relationships.
Flexible, adaptable, and professional demeanor.
Education & Experience:
Preferably law firm experience, especially in large firms or corporate environments.
At least 5+ years supporting senior leadership in a professional setting; law firm experience preferred.
Experience in team and project management, strategic planning.
The role is full-time, with core hours from Monday to Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. The annual salary range is $110,000 to $115,000, with potential bonuses and benefits.
