Description
The primary function of this position is to provide administrative support for the Student Accessibility Resources (SAR) Department including: general clerical duties such as scheduling, data entry, file management, and maintaining/ordering supplies; assisting students with accommodation renewal process when assigned, providing customer service, testing responsibilities, and other duties as assigned.
Examples of Duties
Clerical duties:
Prepare, maintain, and secure student files/records in approved GCSC electronic file system. Preparing, organizing, and printing reports and forms. Maintaining database/electronic file management system. Prepare student files/records for purging according to stated guidelines.
Attend, record, and type minutes at SAR staff meetings and meetings with faculty/students as needed.
Prepare paper/electronic correspondence, check SAR mailbox – open and distribute, answer SAR telephone, monitor and respond to SAR emails, and maintain SAR Calendar appointments. Receive incoming SAR students, relay program information, address questions, and provide information resources. Assist students with navigation of SAR website, SAR application, Student Dashboard, and Register Blast.
Data entry into Banner applications or other GCSC approved data bases.
Maintain SAR Budget records, in conjunction with the Associate Director. Obtain competitive quotes for program purchasing needs, prepare purchase orders, check requisitions, and petty cash requests.
Conduct renewal of accommodations for current SAR students, as directed by supervisor.
Assist with the SAR Department and/or the Testing Center, which may include: receiving and organizing testing information from instructors, communicating with instructors about testing information, monitoring test register system and scheduling testing rooms, seating students for tests, entering passwords, and proctoring/monitoring video cameras. May be asked to perform scribe and/or reader duties for students during testing.
Assist with Note-Taker/Student Assistants (SA) needs, complete onboarding, organize SA duties, follow up with SA’s work product, and approving SA timesheets. May be asked to provide note-taking duties in the classroom.
Maintain cooperative relationships with GCSC faculty and staff to best support student needs.
All other duties as apparent or assigned by supervisor(s) including but not limited to; in addition to serving as point of contact in the SAR department for staff technology questions/needs.
Updating SAR Website as needed, in conjunction with the Associate Director and/or GCSC Webmaster.
Typical Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent (Associate’s degree required from an institutionally accredited institution preferred)
Intermediate
Experience with Microsoft Office 365 applications and the ability to quickly learn other new software technology.
One year experience working with students in a secondary or postsecondary institution, preferably working with students with disabilities preferred
