Cornell University is looking for Program Assistant to join the AAD team that supports the Division of Student & Campus Life (SCL) including Big Red Athletics in Ithaca, NY. SCL’s mission is to inspire transformation and support students as they navigate a critical period of personal growth and development. Our staff lead programs including athletics and recreation, community engaged learning, mental and physical health services, a robust and foundational residential experience, career services, and efforts to cultivate a strong sense of belonging for all students.

Reporting to the Associate Director of Development, the Program Assistant provides critical support and partnership for the development efforts of the SCL and Athletics AAD team, which is responsible for raising more than $30M annually to enhance the experiences of all Cornell students and student-athletes.

In addition to supporting front-line fundraising and leading stewardship and reporting efforts, this role will also support broad-based fundraising initiatives like crowdfunding, phonathons, Giving Day, and mail and email campaigns as needed, and will manage student workers, including hiring, training, and supervising their efforts. Thoughtful and proactive internal communication is essential.

The SCL and Athletics AAD team maintains a strong commitment to team culture, customer service, stewardship, excellence, and fun within an energetic, fast-paced environment, and will expect the Program Assistant to hold themselves to the same standards.

Key Responsibilities:

Act as a strategic partner on prospect management and progression of individual gift conversations

Gather content in support of solicitations and impact reports.

student involvement in donor stewardship (thankathons, thank a giver days, etc).

Manage development reporting on behalf of the team to track progress toward annual and campaign goals and work plans.

Required Qualifications:

Associates degree and 4-6 years relevant experience or equivalent combination.

Experience in and/or demonstrated commitment to supporting diversity, equity, access, inclusion, and wellbeing.

Experience working directly with people from diverse racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic backgrounds.

Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with an orientation towards customer service

Experience working with data management and Microsoft Excel.

Ability to work as part of a team. Open to feedback and demonstrates a growth mindset.

Effective organizational skills, project management, initiative, and detail orientation. Curiosity and eagerness to grow knowledge base and deeply immerse self into the division.

Energetic, self-motivated, and engaging professional with strong multi-tasking skills and sound judgment who can effectively and diplomatically work with colleagues, members of coaching staff, high-level administrators, volunteer leaders, and outside vendors.

Ability to appropriately handle sensitive and confidential information.

Ability to excel while handling multiple tasks and competing priorities at the same time.

Must be able and willing to work occasional weekends and evenings.

No relocation assistance is provided for this position. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position. This position is located in Ithaca, NY. The successful applicant will be expected to work on site 5 days a week.
