About the PUCO:

We are the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio — the PUCO. We support Ohio’s communities, helping keep the lights on, homes and businesses warm and roadways safe. The PUCO is the state agency responsible for the oversight of utilities such as natural gas and electricity and the enforcement of safety regulations for motor carriers and railroad crossings. Led by five commissioners, we regulate industries with an economic impact of over $24 billion on Ohio’s economy.

Public Utilities Aide :

The Public Utilities Commission of Ohio (PUCO) affects every household in Ohio by regulating publicly owned providers of all utility services, including electric and natural gas companies, local and long-distance telephone companies, water and wastewater companies, rail and trucking companies. The PUCO was created to assure Ohioans adequate, safe and reliable public utility services at a fair price.  The PUCO facilitates competitive utility choices for Ohio consumers.

Job duties:

The PUCO seeks a candidate to serve as an Aide to assigned Commissioners. Primary duties include:

Review and analyze proposed opinions and orders for assigned PUCO Commissioners.

Advise Commissioners on utility policy for the State of Ohio.

Review and analyze pending and enacted legislation to assist in implementing acts of the Ohio General Assembly.

Collaborate with subject matter experts, attorney examiners, commissioners, and other administrative staff to conduct analyses.

Provide administrative support for Commissioners.

Represent agency and Commissioners at meetings of state agencies and at relevant technical committees.

Our organization currently follows a hybrid work structure where employees can work remotely or from the office as needed and based on operational need.  This is subject to change with limited notice.  A teleworking agreement must be approved by management

Completion of undergraduate core program in any combination of following academic areas: business administration, public administration, natural resources, or environmental science; AND valid driver’s license.

OR 24 months training or 24 months experience in agency, state & federal laws, rules…
