If so, look no further! The Department of Corrections (DOC) is looking for someone to be responsible for purchasing supplies and services for the DOC Central Office. If you are an organized and productive individual versed in contracting processes and experienced in working with vendors, we have the job for you!

As a Purchasing Agent, you will be responsible for performing purchasing work for the Department of Corrections (DOC) and the Pennsylvania Board of Probation and Parole (PBPP). In this role, you will provide assistance and instruction to staff in determining the appropriate methods for purchasing supplies, materials, equipment, and services. You will utilize commonwealth purchasing systems to make purchases, reconcile orders, and manage purchasing documentation. You will also be responsible for developing and reviewing bid specifications and proposals, locating resources, and resolving purchasing issues.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

Full-time employment (37.5-hour work week)

Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday – Friday, with 30-minute lunch.

Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time up to 3 days a week (Monday, Thursday, and Friday). In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Mechanicsburg.

Work Location: 1920 Technology Parkway, Mechanicsburg, PA

This position is eligible for full retirement benefits at age 60 or 65.

Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable. Selected candidates who are new to employment within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $44,010.00 (before taxes).

QUALIFICATIONSMinimum Experience and Training Requirements:

Three years of experience in purchasing work involving contact with vendors in the procurement of a variety of supplies, materials, equipment, or services; or

Three years of experience in requisitioning, receiving, storing, distributing, and maintaining inventory of goods; or

An equivalent combination of experience and training. Post-high school education may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for purchasing or stores experience to a maximum of two years.

Additional Requirement:

You must be able to perform essential job functions.
