This position is located in Raleigh, NC and is a part of the Division of Services for the Blind statewide administration offices located on the Governor Morehead School Campus. The position serves as the Division’s Blind Registrar for the state-mandated Blind Register. This position reviews eye reports, codes for eligibility and keys eligible individuals in the case management system. The Blind Registrar solicits assistance with interpreting eye reports from the Low Vision Program Specialist and/or Consulting Ophthalmologist as needed. The individual in this position must be very organized and consistently maintain files including purging paper records and updating case management records. The Blind Registrar receives records for all 100 NC counties. Records may be received from Social Workers for the Blind, Nursing Eye Care Consultants, Rehabilitation Counselors, other Division staff, external agencies, and eye care providers.

Additionally, this position serves as part of a team of administrative staff who provide support to staff and visitors and also manages a small Aids & Appliances store. These support duties include assisting with phone coverage, greeting and directing visitors, scanning and attaching documents in the case management system and performing other general administrative tasks as needed. Aids & Appliances responsibilities include maintaining a record of inventory, placing order for stock, utilizing Quickbooks for accounting, coordinating pickup and delivery of items, assisting with in-person sales when needed, providing tours of the available inventory and assisting with outreach events.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

High school diploma or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and two years of related administrative experience;
