Full Job Description

Demonstrates the ability to engage consumers in a welcoming, hopeful, empathetic manner regardless of disability or phase of recovery.

Provides outstanding customer service.

Checks consumers in for scheduled appointments.

Collects co-pays and verifies insurance information. Verifies insurance benefits enter/scans insurance, helps ensure the insurance information in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) is accurate and acts as a liaison between individuals served, staff, and the billing department assisting with the insurance verification process.

Collects and logs payments, copays, utilizing credit card machines in accordance with ESM cash procedures. Enters 3 party insurance information into the Electronic Health Record.

Provides information and refers consumers to the appropriate parties and performs related customer service activities representing the program to the general public.

Updates the appointment status of consumers in the Electronic Health Record.

Answers both general and specific inquiries regarding departmental procedures, some of which may require detailed interpretation of departmental policies and procedures.

Operates a variety of office machines, such as personal computers, typewriters, adding machines, and calculators.

Ensures that paperwork is maintained in accordance with Medicaid and Department of Community Health guidelines, as well as Easterseals policies and procedures.

Demonstrates knowledge of principles of trauma informed care.

Willingness to support and assist consumers with trauma-related issues.

Checks consumers out and manage the flow of consumers and other patrons out of doctors and administrative offices.

May collect copays as appropriate.

Submits authorization requests timely for initial and/or physician services and updates in the EMR.

Verifies authorizations and schedules follow-up appointments in accordance with staff recommendations.

Responsible for answering and triaging internal and external telephone calls.

Manages the Psychiatric Assessment and Psychiatric Evaluation process, including appointment scheduling.

Updates the backfill list as needed for processing by Centralized Schedulers.

Answers both general and specific inquiries regarding departmental procedures, some of which may require detailed interpretation of departmental policies and procedures.

Demonstrates knowledge of principles of trauma informed care.

Willingness to support and assist consumers with trauma-related issues.

Acts as a liaison with the billing department, receives specialized training and is responsible for ensuring that workflow functions are in compliance with existing policies and procedures that are applicable.

Identifies, communicates, and assertively pursues solutions in collaboration with the office manager/supervisor, and billing department, weaknesses in workflow functions and activities.

Updates/Scans Ability to Pay (ATP) financial information enters/scans the financial information in the EMR and acts as a liaison between consumers, staff, and the billing department.
