General Description:
The purpose of this class within the organization is to perform general clerical duties and maintain records. This class works under close supervision according to set procedures.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:
Requires High School graduation or GED equivalent and six months of clerical or administrative work with some records experience or closely related experience. The equivalent combination of education and related work experience may be considered.

Knowledge of business English, spelling, punctuation, and arithmetic.
Knowledge of modern office practices, procedures, and equipment.
Skill in the use of computers and related software.
Ability to enter large quantities of data into computer accurately and expeditiously.
Ability to use sound judgment regarding confidential information.
Ability to deal with people beyond giving and receiving instructions. Must be adaptable to performing under stress when confronted with emergency situations or tight deadlines.
Ability to maintain positive customer-focused relationships with co-workers, supervisors, agencies, the general public, and all other internal and external customers. Personally demonstrates appropriate customer service skills.
Work is performed onsite. The incumbent must be present at work to perform the essential functions of this job.
Essential Job Functions:
Operates computer terminal as needed to enter and maintain accurate, comprehensive, and up to date data related to Police Records including Incidents, Report narratives, Vehicle information, Traffic accidents, Citations, and Arrest Records.
Responsible for preparing and ensuring the proper redaction of Incidents for Citizens, Government Agencies, and all media outlets.
Answers the phone; greets and assists visitors; prepares correspondence, and gathers information needed for reports; responds to citizen questions/requests.
Issues ticket books, warning ticket books and parking ticket books to officers; submits accident reports to the Highway department.
Balances receipts and cash drawer.
Submits driver history requests to SCDMV.
Performs all other duties as may be assigned to meet organizational needs.
