Osawatomie State Hospital is licensed by the State of Kansas to provide care and treatment for adults diagnosed with psychiatric disorders regardless of ability to pay. There are currently two hospitals on the Osawatomie campus in Miami county: Osawatomie State Hospital (OSH) and Adair Acute Care (AAC). Adair Acute Care are a 60-bed facility, certified by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services.
All employees are expected to work in a harmonious and cooperative fashion with other staff to provide efficient and effective customer service: to use free time as available to assist other staff in the completion of work assignments and perform other tasks as needed; to contribute to a positive work environment through a positive, helpful, courteous demeanor towards staff, customers and the general public; and to adhere to appropriate standards of conduct regarding the use of leave, reports to work on time and in the designated fashion.
This position completes admissions and processing of admission paperwork prior to admission. Gathering all documentation necessary to perform a complete admission. This position will also gather information on patients that have been as the hospital prior to give to the admitting physician according to CMS standards. This position will also include rounding to various places across campus to assist with medical record processing. Picking up documentation to scan into the electronic health record as well as filing into the hard chart on different units. The employee will also follow guidelines within the department to process medical records, input information into reports, and process reports as necessary. This position is also responsible for answering phones, providing the units with requested documentation or wristbands, and completing projects as assigned by the HIM Systems Coordinator. During the scheduled hours, this position will also process any Release of Information requests needed to be processed as STAT requests.
The essential functions of this position may require physical strength to frequently push, pull, twist, bend, squat, walk, stand for extended periods of time, lift and/or restrain residents with or without assistance and respond to aggressive resident behavior with specific, trained techniques. Be able to observe and respond to residents in distress.
Osawatomie State Hospital Adair Acute Care is funded in part by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services and is subject to requirements bestowed by Federal and State levels of government conditions of participation.
Position Summary & Responsibilities
Position Summary:
Employee is responsible for data entry, reporting, medical record procedures and for general clerical work and document imaging required to maintain patient records and process patient data. This position will also perform data entry and processing for patient related statistics. This position requires great attention to detail to ensure best practices. This position is responsible for release of information to outside agencies for emergency requests after regular business hours. This position requires the individual to have excellent customer service skills within the hospital and with the public.
The employee will cover weekend hours and holidays from 10am – 6pm on a rotating basis.
May be required to work up to 16 consecutive hours.

Minimum Qualifications:
One year of experience in general office, clerical and administrative support work. Education may be substituted for experience as determined relevant by the agency.
Must have the ability to access, input and retrieve information from the computer. Employee must have the ability to file documentation in paper records per a pre-determined filing sequence.
Must have some experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PDF programs. Must have ability to communicate with the public in person and over the phone.
The employee must be able to meet the physical demands, i.e., talking, hearing, seeing, occasional stooping, kneeling or bending, lifting 25 lbs. and the ability to move about the campus
