Job Purpose
The purpose of this job is to ensure that research grant activities are administered smoothly and effectively to provide effective services to the CPUT community and external stakeholders.
Job Knowledge, Skills and Experience
The candidate must know the higher education environment. Applicants must be familiar with the internal and external grant application processes.
The ability to understand national, and international systems is essential.
Must have served as an NRF designated authority or finance administrator.
The candidate must possess excellent communication skills (verbal and written), coordination and organizational skills, presentation skills, people-orientation skills, creative thinking, and innovative skills.
The candidate must have a four-year degree or BTech degree, preferably in economic management sciences, accounting, finance, or equivalent. Proficiency in English. A minimum of four years’ experience in research administration is a requirement.
Key Performance Areas / Principal Accountabilities
The candidate will administer pre-award research funding applications through online internal, national, and international systems.
The candidate will also administer manual applications from several different industry sectors.
The candidate will liaise with internal and external stakeholders, assist with capacity building programmes.
Act as designated authority for the NRF online applications.
Store data in SharePoint and other filing systems.
Maintain office administration records and track grants.
Marketing information about funding opportunities to the research community.
Managing a database and mailing distribution lists.
Communicating with the community, and
Build strong relationships with stakeholders.
