SUMMARY DESCRIPTION
This position will be primarily scanning criminal justice and jail records to produce digital copies for retention by the Sheriff’s Office. This position is responsible for official, confidential document retention and requires attention to detail with the ability to perform repetitive tasks throughout the entirety of their shift. This position performs a variety of work in support of administrative, professional and technical staff activities; works in partnership with other employees, departments, external entities, and the public in delivering professional services. The position is scheduled for 40 hours/week during office hours of 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Scans and maintains a wide variety of records;
Performs routine administrative duties in support of the Sheriff’s Office;
Assists the public and provides general information at the front counter, by telephone and through email correspondence in response to relatively routine questions;
Responds to inquiries from employees, citizens, and others and refers, when necessary, to appropriate persons and/or department;
Composes routine correspondence based on standard formats and other material from copy, rough draft, or other sources;
Sort and distribute incoming mail, process outgoing mail, and operate office machines as required.
Maintains records, files, and other materials according to established methods and procedures; reviews files and retrieves information;
Performs data entry on a computer; uses Microsoft Office for written correspondence.
Performs related duties as requested or assigned.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND QUALIFICATIONS
High School Diploma or GED equivalent and one year of office experience with public contact;
Some experience with scanning equipment is helpful
Professional customer service and written and oral communication skills, even under demanding circumstances;
Diplomacy, accuracy, attention to detail, and the ability to take and follow direction;
Ability to multitask and switch gears quickly without becoming inefficient;
Must be highly adaptable to a fast-paced environment;
Must possess a valid Colorado Driver’s license with an acceptable motor vehicle record;
Must be able to pass a criminal background check;
This is a safety-sensitive position and is subject to random drug testing.
