At the Office of Industrial Relations (OIR), we’re committed to improving work health and safety in Queensland. As the Senior Administration Officer – Technical Support you will work with limited supervision as part of the Engineering Services Unit in the Specialised Health and Safety Services directorate.
The Engineering Services Unit provides specialist services for OIR. In unit consists of engineers with expertise in construction, mechanical, civil, electrical and electronic systems engineering and specialize in the provision of technical advice, training and registering the design of high-risk plant.
About The Role
As the Senior Administration Officer – Technical Support you will:
Provide front-line technical and legislative support to external clients in relation to plant design registration under the Workplace Health and Safety legislation.
Assess plant design registration applications to ensure relevant technical and administrative requirements under the legislation are met.
Process plant design applications, including the scanning of hardcopy documentation to electronic format for efficient storage and retrieval.
Manage the computerised records management and file tracking/retrieval system for the plant design registration process.
Provide business and administrative support in relation to human resourcerelated processes, staff establishment and associated staffing issues.
Perform the role of Asset Custodian and manage the purchasing of goods and services in accordance with delegated authorities in compliance with Asset Management and Departmental Purchasing Policies.
Actively participate in the promotion of a discrimination free workplace culture that values equity and diversity.
About The Team
The Engineering Services Unit provides specialist services for OIR. In addition to the Chief Safety Engineer, it consists of engineers with expertise in construction, mechanical, civil, electrical and electronic systems engineering and specialize in the provision of technical advice, training and registering the design of high-risk plant.
The Unit Is Responsible For
Administering the registration of high-risk plant designs (e.g. boilers, pressure vessels, gas cylinders, cranes, hoists and amusement devices) and licensing of major amusement parks as required under the Queensland workplace health and safety legislation;
Conduct safety audits of high-risk plant designs, including liaising with consultant engineers and competent persons (plant design verifiers) as part of the audit process to verify the safety of plant;
Provide high level technical and expert advice and engineering analysis for incident investigations and compliance campaigns;
Support the development and maintenance of technical competency amongst the inspectorate in relation to plant and construction safety matters;
Collaborate and contribute to national and state-wide projects and networks; and
Produce safety alerts in response to serious incidents.
