The position will be based out of one of the following California coastal county locations, depending on the location of the selected candidate. The candidate must reside within one of these coastal counties. If not, candidate will be expected to relocate to one of these coastal counties at the candidate’s own expense:

Do you love the California coastline? Do you have a passion for emergency management? Then this is the job for you! The Senior Emergency Services Coordinator (SESC) will act as the State’s Tsunami Planning Coordinator within the Earthquake, Tsunami, and Volcano Program; and will directly support life safety efforts along the California coast. The SESC will coordinate the program’s continuous research, learning, and collaboration with science, industry, and academic experts. This coordination and collaboration works to develop and confirm the latest, best available knowledge base to help make California’s residents and visitors safer in the event of tsunamic activity. The incumbent will support mapping potential inundation and evacuation areas, assist in response and evacuation planning, as well as perform outreach to those that may be affected. Furthermore, the SESC will help local jurisdictions with the implementation of the TsunamiReady® program and will support local jurisdictions request for tsunami warning signage across California’s coastline. Critical outreach will be performed by this position that will directly help to improve preparedness and resilience of California’s beaches, ports, and harbors. This position ultimately will help to protect and keep everyone on the coast safe before, during, and after the next tsunami.

Working Conditions
Telework- his position is eligible for a hybrid work schedule which includes up to two days of remote work per week. Additional in office days may be required based on the business need.
